Photon provides surface characterization and reporting of multi-layered, textured, and mixed materials. Photon leverages LMI’s Line Confocal and Laser Profiler sensor technology to scan these surfaces with sub-micron precision, and at a level of quality and speed that outperforms competing technologies.
The system uses high-precision encoders, vibration-free movement, and automated stitching software to scan challenging materials—at large fields of view—in a variety of offline and at-line quality inspection applications, as well as laboratory and R&D processes.
The system is CE and FCC certified.

The system’s high-precision encoders and vibration-free movement allow for stitching of 3D point clouds generated from complex scanning paths––at large fields of view.
Photon is a cost-effective, non-contact alternative to CMM systems that rely on robot arm movement and touch-probe data acquisition.
Photon generates standard surface characterization metrology reports of manufactured parts for quality inspection, lab metrology, and R&D prototyping.
Leveraging LMI Line Confocal Sensors, Photon is able to handle multi-layered, transparent, curved-edge, shiny, textured, mixed, and a wide range of other manufactured material structures. Photon also supports LMI laser line profile sensors for maximum scanning flexibility.
